The green revolution or third agricultural revolution is a set of research technological transfer initiatives occurring between 1950 and the late 1960s that increased agricultural production
worldwide particularly in the developing world. The initiatives resulted in the adoption of new technologies, including high yielding varieties of cereals in association with chemical fertilizer and agro-chemical, and with irrigation infrastructure, modern management practices and new farming practices with mechanization.Ford foundation and Rockefeller foundation were greatly involved. One key leader was Norman Borlaug, the father of Green Revolution, who was credited with saving over a billion people from starvation and received the Nobel peace prize in 1970.
