FUTURE OF AGRICULTURE

With consistent increase in the rate at which agriculture is feeding the world, it’s now gradually moving and changing from agricultural production in to manufacturing.
Thus, the future of agriculture is viewed and pictured to be one with increase productivity and yield due to the use of newly introduced high level inputs such as hybrid plants and animals, use of high level and well developed technologies such as global positioning system, soil scanning, data management and internet of things as applied in smart farming which involves the use of modern technology to increase the quantity and quality of agricultural products, optimisation of use of water and pesticides as applied in precision farming, using latest hydroponics systems.

And with less use of inorganic chemical inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides etc. will leads to production of better in quantity and quality agricultural products as promoted by organic farming which is deemed to produce healthier product and more environmental friendly.

With increase in the world’s population, increase in carbon footprint, decrease is available land, unfavourable climatic condition due to global warming and the increase in demand for food is the outright call for agriculture to get smarter, more efficient and willing to experiment potential better alternatives to the traditional farming by developing new and safer inputs, better agricultural processes.
